IASIS

"IASIS" is non-governmental, non-profit organization active in the field of Social Inclusion, Mental Health and De-institutionalization, which actively participates in the psychiatric reform promoted by the Ministry of Health and Social Solidarity and the European Union. IASIS has an official registration as Private Non-Profit Organization and a Special Registration in Voluntary Non-Governmental Organizations Lists handled by General Directorate of Welfare (09110AEN21094O32N-0798 and 09110AEN21094O32N-0721). IASIS NGO also has Management Competence System certified by the Special Service / Department of Health and Social Solidarity (No. 1483/13.06.18).

Organization’s main objective is to provide psychosocial support and education to people who either belong to the range of or are at risk of exclusion, and to adult learners in the humanitarian field.

IASIS NGO began its preparatory actions in 2005. The first housing structure, a boarding house for 15 people with mental retardation, started to operate in 2006. In 2008, IASIS NGO’s activities in the field of de-institutionalization were extended with a Day Centre for people with psychosocial problems (capacity of 80 people each year), and a Sheltered Apartment hosting 4 tenants with mental health issues. Organizational cycle of de-institutionalization culminated at 2014 in the creation of Social Cooperative in 7th Psychiatric Sector (KOI.S.P.E.), named “Archipelagos”.

In the following years IASIS NGO expanded its activities offering services to other vulnerable groups: Homeless (Support Homeless Day Centre with a capacity of 50 persons per week), Asylum Seekers/ Refugees (Sheltered Home for 70 Persons - families, Psycho-social Support Services for 220 Refugees), Children at risk (Hostel for 100 children / victims of war), Abused Women (Support Service for 200 women), unemployed (Support service for 90 unemployed persons), Youngsters at Social Exclusion Risk/ Young Offenders (Youth Centre, Anti-bullying Work Group “Ailios”).

The organization has also developed a strong network across Europe, through which there have been designed and implemented dozens of Research & Educational Programs in the context of European and national frameworks (Erasmus+, Life Long Learning, EAA Grants, EFM etc.).

Last step to establish IASIS NGO as integrated Center for Psychosocial Education & Training is certification as Vocational Training Center – VET (KEDIVIM 1) from Greek National Accreditation Organization (EOPPEP), a process that ensures organization as an institution for professional development of both beneficiaries and professionals.

Noteworthy also - and particularly effective - is the company's Volunteer Network, which is constantly enriched with new people, and supported both educational and oversight by experienced members of the institution. Among other things, as a certified volunteers hosting and sending organization within the European context European Voluntary Service – EVS, IASIS hosts and trains through an integrated system 10 volunteers coming from all over Europe.

Through its involvement in education, research, volunteerism, prevention, treatment and raising awareness, IASIS NGO achieves the following goals:

Promotion of Mental Health through well designed interventions aiming for social awareness in general (social responsibility etc.) and in specialized issues (mental health users, immigrants).

Support social vulnerable groups, provide them with specialized services and psychosocial, educational interventions, as well as an holistic approach for a quality living.

Development of innovative tools through the conduction of European Research projects and the creation of a network with other European Institutions.

Training professionals in the field of health and education according to current needs.

Cooperation with other entities, creation of a social network aiming to ensure constant development and care.

Raising awareness to the community through educational and instructional events (conferences, seminars, workshops, festive events).
